Dickinson State University 2017 Spring Commencement Graduates

Jalyn Klauzer of Baker, MT, will graduate from Dickinson State University at its 97th spring commencement ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13, in Scott Gymnasium. Dickinson State will award 161 baccalaureate degrees and 37 associate degrees. Students will celebrate their graduation by walking across the platform to receive their diplomas from the university's 12th president, Dr. Thomas Mitzel.

A total of 197 students were eligible to participate in the commencement ceremony; this number includes all spring and summer 2017 graduates, as well as students who graduated last fall but did not participate in the December ceremony. Five students will also graduate with Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Program distinction.

Dickinson State students Jessica Schmeichel and Jalyn Klauzer will address the graduates at the commencement ceremony. Schmeichel, the daughter of David and Carla Dykstra of Apple Valley, MN, will be receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in English Education. She is married to Landen Schmeichel, and they reside in Mandan, ND.

Klauzer is from Baker, MT, and is the daughter of Barb Klauzer. She will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Studies with an Integrated Range Management option.

The graduates, faculty, staff, alumni and guests will also hear from Dr. Carmen Wilson, provost and vice president of Academic Affairs, and Kari Reichert, a representative of the State Board of Higher Education.
